HSR Fellowship training in Public Health and Health System Management

From October 1st till December 23, HSR has lead a fellowship training for the first Kazakh delegation sponsored by the presidential program for foreign education and training. The fellowship was conducted in partnership with the University of Chicago and Rush Medical Center (department of Health System Management). The trainees were senior healthcare executives and professors who spent 3 months in Chicago learning about: Health Systems and Sysrtems Reform, The US Health System and Obama reform, Pharmaceutical Policy and Reform, Leadership and Negotiation in Healthcare, Current Challenges in Public health, Innovations in Public Health, the Future of Public Health and Health System Managament: managing quality, people and healthcare delivery, and leading institutional change.
The trainees completed three research projects: the first one was about a health systems analysis and reform recommendations or a country of choice, the second one was on health systems and reform in Kazakhstan and the third one was a Caprtsone project in Health System Management.
During the Fellowship, the trainees had the chance to vist many Chicago based healthcare and administrative institutions such as the City Public Health Department, Rush Medical Center, U of Chicago Hospital, VOA, VA hospital and multiple clinics in and around the city.
